I’ve spent quite a lot of time on my PC this week, and on Wednesday morning I realised that I hadn’t saved one of the documents I had been working on the day before. No worries – my computer had autosaved it for me. This made me think about life. When I’m working on a document – or a spreadsheet – if I make a mistake, I can ‘undo’ until I get back to where I want – but it’s not like that in ‘real life’. Once a moment has passed, there’s no going back.
It’s a good reminder that we need to make every moment count. God has planned good works for us to do (Ephesians 2 v 10) and, like Esther, the situation you are in right now might be the very one that you were born for (Esther 4 v 14).
My challenge – for you and me – is to deliberately live every moment – not just ‘doing’ but being ‘fully present’ with the people around you.
