I’m excited. Know why? Today, for the first time in a couple of months, we are able to gather altogether, and have morning tea at our café style church!

I remember when I first started coming to this Church – about twelve or thirteen years ago! – someone asked me what I liked best, and my answer, cheeky and not-quite-but-almost-seriously, was: ‘the tea and coffee at the end’.

Community & Hospitality – these are two of our deep values as a Church.

Of course these are not just about food & drink. We can have community and be hospitable without them; they are a posture of the heart. But something about the act of sharing time together over food and drink is community-and-hospitality-in-action.

I would give a different answer now, but my great love for ‘table fellowship’ remains. We gather to worship God and we gather to be together, because where two or three are gathered, Jesus is in our midst. That is true in the explicitly spiritual stuff, like in communion, reading scripture, or worshipful singing and prayer; also true in our fellowship with one another over tea & biscuits.

Why not recognize it this morning? If you see someone you haven’t seen for a while, enjoy a bikkie together and tell them you’re happy to see them. Jesus is here!

Good news.
